Our History

The Uniontown congregation at 20 Robinson Street was founded in 1903 by the Georges Creek congregation to bring the good news of Jesus Christ to the people in the Uniontown area. Brother Jasper Barnthouse was the first resident pastor and Elder serving from 1903 until 1918. Brother Alpheus DeBolt also served as an Elder. Congregational singing was lead by a song leader with the use of a pitch pipe until the first piano was donated in 1928. In 1931, we withdrew from the Georges Creek Congregation and became a separate organization. Over the years, Sunday school classes for all ages, bible studies, children and adult choirs, and children, youth, and adult fellowship groups were added. There have been many changes to the Church building as well. It has been remodeled and enlarged, stain glass windows were added, and an educational wing provided additional Sunday School classrooms, a nursery, and a larger fellowship hall. Although there have been many changes, we continue to uphold what our founder, Alexander Mack and his followers set forth in 1708. Today our membership is just shy of 200 and we continue to uphold the New Testament as our only creed and grow through the blessings of fellowship, service, and nurturing the needs of others.

We practice the Christian ordinances of Believer's baptism, communion and love feast, laying on of hands, and anointing in times of physical illness and/or emotional distress.

Believer's Baptism is trine immersion (three times forward), in the name of the Father, of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Believer's baptism is for those who consciously choose to receive God's grace and follow Jesus.

Communion and Love Feast  is an expression of love, modeled after Christ's last supper with His disciples. This includes feet washing, a simple meal together, and the bread and cup of Holy Communion.

Anointing and laying on of hands  is a healing rite for a believer who is physically ill or emotionally or spiritually upset. The minister anoints the person's forehead with oil to symbolize forgiveness of sin, strengthening faith, and healing of body, mind, and spirit.
